Questions to Ask Before You Retire

01

Will I lose my employer coverage, and when exactly?

02

Does my employer have 20 or more employees? This can affect whether you should sign up for Part B now.

03

Will my employer or retiree plan work with Medicare, or replace it?

04

Does my current drug coverage count as "creditable" coverage?

05

What about my spouse's coverage?

Your Special Enrollment Period

If you delayed Part B because of active employer coverage, you generally get a Special Enrollment Period when that coverage ends, so you can sign up without a late penalty. Timing rules are strict, so talk with an advisor before your last day of work.
